Holiday Cottage Devon – When is your time?

This week on the Stowford Lodge blog, we look at the varying times of year to visit us in Devon.

Most of Devon’s main attractions, museums and National Trust properties are open April until the end of October.  After Easter, the coastal paths of Devon are awash with colour from the spring flowers, making walking an even bigger delight.

In autumn, the colours changing on the moors is absolutely amazing, with September and October having the sea at its warmest, but the beaches at their quietest.

During the winter, many country pubs have a cosy fire to snuggle up to on a chilly afternoon.

The weather can be a little unpredictable in Devon, as it can be sunny one minute and showery the next, just be prepared for all weather when you pack!

This year in Devon, Gary Rhodes is opening a new restaurant, Rhodes West, which is based in the disused waterfront Dome near Plymouth.  Also, in Exeter Frankie’s Restaurant (a partnership between celebrity chef Marco Pierre White and jockey Frankie Dettori) is opening too.

There is so much to see and do in Devon, so check out our availability for holiday cottages in Devon, and we look forward to welcoming you soon!

Visit our beautiful North Devon holiday cottage

Thank you for visiting the Stowford Lodge blog.  We offer beautiful options for Holiday Cottages in North Devon and Self Catering in North Devon.

Over the coming weeks and months we will explore some of what makes North Devon and the South West an amazing destination for you.

There are loads of reasons to visit the South West and North Devon – The coves, the cream teas, the long walks and cycle routes, the picnics, the surf and of course a drink or two or one of many delightful pubs we have to offer in our part of the world.  Devon truly mixes two of life’s pleasures – amazing food and the English countryside.

The majority of visitors to Devon come for the awesome beaches and the surf that comes with many North Devon tides, however do not be afraid to go against the grain and explore inland Devon – you will be amazed at what gems are awaiting you.

The moors offer a unique place to lose yourself, with outstanding views and endless skies, while a scenic drive through mid-Devon will reveal many unique villages, rivers and thickly wooded cleaves.

Sounds good doesn’t it?  Wait until you try some of Devons locally produced food, for example lamb, venison, pheasant and of course amazing seafood.  The regular farmers markets have the staple requirements of cider, apple juice and of course cheese and ice cream.
